PRE-KINDERGARTEN (K3 & K4)
BA requires all applicants, K3 - 1st grade to take an entrance assessment.  During the assessment, students will spend time with a teacher in a classroom.  Students will be asked to sort colored items, work puzzles, write their name, test fine-motor skills, and identify letters & sounds.  Students are not required to have mastery of these skills, however, teachers prefer to see where each student is academically. Students will also be assessed on their ability to communicate effectively.  This assessment is set-up by appointment only.
All pre-kindergarten students MUST be potty-trained. There are no exceptions to this rule.

KINDERGARTEN (K5) - GRADE 1
BA requires all applicants, K3 - 1st grade to take an entrance assessment.  During the assessment, students will spend time with a teacher and go over letter sounds, letter/number recognition, fine-motor skills, reading, simple math, etc. This assessment is set-up by appointment only.

GRADES 2 - 12
BA requires all applicants, 2nd -12th grade to take an entrance assessment. During the assessment, students will spend time with the admissions team in the office. This assessment consists of a STAR Math test, STAR Reading test, & a short language test. This assessment is set-up by appointment only.

The Bayou Academy Admissions Committee carefully evaluates each applicant on his/her individual strengths and talents. Admission to Bayou Academy is selective and based on previous school performance, behavior reports, results of an entrance assessment, and if needed, an interview with the student and/or family. While individual test scores for candidates grades one and above are important, every part of a candidate’s file plays a critical role in the acceptance process.

As of September 2024, all students & their parents* will be scheduled for a meeting before a decision will be made by the Admissions Committee. This meeting will be conducted through appointment only, typically after the student takes their assessment.

*If the student applying for admission already has a sibling currently attending Bayou Academy, the parent meeting may be waived.
Check your e-mail for decisions regarding admission decision from the Admissions Committee. Please check your junk/SPAM mail folders during this time.

If accepted, move on to Step 7.
If accepted, you'll receive an e-mail with instructions to complete an online enrollment packet.  If a secondary packet is needed for a split family, be sure to communicate that with the Admissions Director.

When the enrollment packet is submitted, a yearly $300/per family fee will be assessed.

  1. Enrollment is not complete until this packet (and secondary packet, if needed) have been submitted.  If you did not receive an e-mail with submission confirmation, please make sure you hit the "Submit" button on the "Enrollment Packet Review" section.

  1. You will need to submit a release form from your current school. You can get this from your school's administration once you've officially withdrawn them. Please do NOT complete this step until you've received acceptance from Bayou Academy. This is a formality that shows us that you are in good financial standing and are able to be released from your current school. Your contract will not be presented to the Board of Trustees until we have this form on file.
You will receive confirmation from the Board of Trustees of your official approval through e-mail.  You can print a copy of your contract by logging into your FACTS/Renweb account, viewing the enrollment packet, and selecting "Print PDF."
Review your New Family Packet.  Be sure to ask any questions you have. Our admissions team is always available to help.
